Writing was always the first option for me when I figured out that I wanted to make movies. Making up stories was always something I did even when I was young so when I got the chance to study screenwriting my love for creating worlds and stories came rushing to the surface, my love for the Adventure and Sci-Fi genres stick out the most when it comes to the stories I like to tell. I always set out to tell stories that resonate with myself foremost but with others also, whether it be: creating something people can laugh at, characters that you can fall in love with or telling creating adventures that make people want to just get up and go. Because growing up those are the exact effects movies had on me. The Goonies made me want to go find treasure with my friends, Back to the Future filled me with wonder and a feeling that is indescribable. So what I hope to make isn't a show or a movie but a feeling, a feeling that engulfs you and makes you feel like you did when you were younger when life was just a fun adventure with friends.

Creating stories is something that I have always done for as long as I can remember, but most of the time I never knew I was doing so. Whether it was making new Star Wars stories with my action figures or playing outside with friends living in our own imaginative world, a story would always be told. I realised in my late teens after not knowing which direction to go with my life that I wanted to make films and TV shows for the whole world to see. I have forever been drawn to the screen growing up with favourites such as Star Wars, The Goonies and Indiana Jones, and then later films I connected with being the likes of Evil Dead 2, Super 8 and Interstellar. These are all inspirations for when I write, but the main inspirations of what I write are from moments that have happened in my life and moments I dream could someday happen, be it being a mysterious light in the forest at the summer camp I worked at, a way to get over a break-up or just really, really wanting to go into space. Inspiration has come when I have least expected it to, it also comes mostly when I am listening to film scores which is something I am constantly doing, including right now, thanks Michael Giachinno.
The thing I love most about writing is creating a whole new world for myself and others to escape to, full of laughter, wonder, romance and even fear. I love most genres and I always enjoy merging them together in my writing, always throwing fantasy, comedy and romance into the mix. The dream is to see one of my stories properly come to life for everyone to enjoy and remember and maybe one day even become an inspiration for someone else.
TV Series
Writers: Nate James Williams and Jack Sinclair
When a series of mysterious asteroids strike the town of Bramsville turning innocent
civilians into bloodthirsty ghouls and monsters, James Watts and his loyal friends The
Groovy Gang must fight to save the town from certain doom… unaware of a much
greater intergalactic threat coming their way.
Eleven years after his father was murdered and sucked into a mysterious portal, James Watts aka Captain Cool and his group of loyal friends, The Groovy Gang find themselves protecting the small, secluded town of Bramsville from a constant barrage of ghouls, monsters and everything in between, leading up to a final confrontation between good and evil. All this happening whilst the gang try to deal with early adulthood and their arch nemesis, Sergeant Shithead and The Prick Patrol.
Season One of the show contains the first waves of attack that the group has to face where they begin to grasp their ways of protecting their beloved hometown of Bramsville from classic monster such as Vampires, Werewolves and Zombies. The characters also suffer loss in a tremendous way by tragically losing James’ best friend Kaleb and the group's mentor, Hawkins. Season One also introduces the overarching villains of the show, Alien crusaders, Commander Zai’Gothe and Queen Wu’Zen.
In this season we really get a sense of who The Groovy Gang are, which is a group of good hearted, loyal friends, combined of slackers, burnouts, geniuses and hopeless romantics. Apart from all of the monster fighting we find ourselves exploring the individual characters of the Gang and discovering why they are who they are, be it a family tragedy, rich and careless parents, fighting in a war or even having ancient alien heritage. We also find ourselves following the love story of James and Chloe, Wilhelms fight against depression and the rise of the evil Brad Drinkwater (Sergeant Shithead).
The World:
The world of ‘The Adventures of Captain Cool and The Groovy Gang’ is very similar to our
own, although it is in an alternate reality. Which means a slightly different history, different developments of technology (e.g. no mobile phones) and a aesthetic of the late 20th Century (clothing and product style). There are no films from our world which means there is a completely new library of films for The Groovy Gang to be obsessed with such as ‘Revenge of the Salmon Man’ and ‘The Legend of Starrider’. Music has crossed over into this world (All Pre-90s) and we are introduced into many new songs from the rock band/friends of the gang, ‘Zalia and the Zombie Galaxies’ who will help power the soundtrack to the show.
This world needs The Groovy Gang and The Groovy Gang needs to save their world.
